Apostille and Legalisation in India

INDIAN APOSTILLE & LEGALISATION

Documents issued in the UK frequently need legalisation by the UK FCO.You are required to provide a photcopy of the documents for legalisation. Consularization fees vary typically – Passport Copy, £10.00 ; Private Power of Attorney, £17.00 ; Commercial documents, £38.00
Note: Documents frequently need legalisation by the UK FCO and, if the receiving party isn’t aware of India being party to the Apostille Convention. Documents no longer need any further legalisation than the FCO, but if the receiving party insists on you having your documents legalised then the IHC in London expects you to sign a statement that you are aware that legalisation is no longer required. Certifying copies of documents under one notarial certificate will lead to a rejection of the documents at the IHC, each needs to be notarised, apostilled and legalised . You are also required to attach an ID photograph of all signatories (applied with glue). Commercial documents require the passport page of a director to be presented when lodging.

If you are planning to emigrate, marry, invest or purchase property in India and require the services of a notary public please get in touch.
